XponentialWorks, a venture, advisory and product development firm, announces that three of its generative design and additive manufacturing portfolio companies plan to commercially launch their products at RAPID + TCT 2019. Nexa3D will announce the availability of its NXE400 3D printer, an industrial 3D printer, and offer their first-ever public live printing demonstration at Rapid+TCT 2019.
- NXT Factory plans to unveil for the first time its high-speed quantum-laser-sintering QLS 350 at Rapid+TCT 2019.
- ParaMatters plans to give live demonstrations of its newest generative design and lightweighting software at RAPID + TCT 2019. The CogniCAD 2.1 topology optimizer for lightweighting, additive manufacturing and investment casting delivers a wider range of designs optionality.
NXE400 3D printer
Nexa3D’s production system is ready for complete factory automation and prints with speed and high build volume, according to the company.

This innovative printer can be ordered with Nexa3D’s washing and curing units that together automate and reduce the time to produce ready-to-use functional prototypes and production parts from hours to just minutes, according to the company.
As part of its plans to commence NXE400 shipment in the second half of 2019, Nexa3D also announced a partner program with qualified preferred third party materials’ suppliers. This program is another step in the company’s plan to democratize access to ultra-fast industrial stereolithography printers with production grade performance materials. The NXE400 is slated for customer deliveries during the second half of 2019. Priced $59,950 for a 16-liter printer, the printer is capable of printing at injection molding repeatability and tolerances. Nexa3D printers are powered by the company’s ubricant Sublayer Photo-curing (LSPc) technology and patented structured light matrix that in combination are capable of reaching speeds of 1Z cm per minute.
CogniCAD 2.1 Platform
ParaMatters will publicly demonstrate its CogniCAD 2.1 platform for the first time at RAPID + TCT 2019. CogniCAD automatically generates ready-to-3D print or investment cast high-performance, lightweighted structures for aerospace, automotive and other applications both as a cloud-based service or localized enterprise solution.
The designs generated by CogniCAD 2.1 as a one-click solution are smooth and watertight STL models ready for additive manufacturing or STEP files that are compliant with all CAD systems, the company reports. The new CogniCAD release offers an expanded range of loading conditions including thermal loads and force/moments via remote points, and also to existing acceleration (g-forces) and pressure. In cases when loading conditions are not known, CogniCAD’s AI generates a robust design autonomously. This new and advanced feature ensures that the design is tailored to the specific application field (aerospace, automotive, medical or industrial design).
CogniCAD 2.1 comes with broader design for additive manufacturing and investment casting with functional design capabilities including stress, compliance (stiffness) and deformation constraints. By minimizing unsupported areas or supports volume, CogniCAD generates the most optimal design and find its ideal model orientation for additive manufacturing while highlighting areas that require reinforcement. Importantly, CogniCAD 2.1 allows users to select the desired combination between resolution and speed of computation with the introduction of its 2X computational speedup.
ParaMatters believes that providing the optimal print orientation is a critical step towards applying generative design to optimize the entire support structure and accordingly the company is planning to release further generative support capabilities throughout the remainder of this year.

Quantum Laser Sintering QLS 350 System
NXT Factory will reveal its first fully automated polyamide manufacturing system at RAPID + TCT 2019.

With its removable robotically guided print chamber, for independent cool down and autonomous depowering module, the QLS 350 delivers a polymer-based production alternative to traditional injection molding with full Industry 4.0 capabilities designed for fully automated 24/7 operation.

The QLS 350 comes equipped with a robotically guided removable print chamber, built in thermal management and automated docking. The system can also be ordered with a fully autonomous depowering system for continuous operations.
